Power Adapter Connection Does Not Stay Tight

I've just ordered my FIFTH power adapter cord because the connection does not stay tight enough to keep the player charging. Is there a safe way to add threads to the jack, or something besides taping it to the unit? Wiggling it around to find the right angle for the red light to come on makes the protective cover on the wire wear out. So frustrated!
