A couple of issues with RQ0255 + question

Hello, I am hoping you can help. I purchased the RQ0255+Y0811 from Amazon (order 106-5194537-1871418) on November 25, 2016. It has all been installed and has been working pretty well for the most part. There are a couple of issues that I am hoping to get resolved and thought this was a good place to start. Some of it may just be my ignorance, but I am not sure and thought I would ask. Here are the issues that I can think of at the moment (though I am thinking there were one or two other oddities):

1. I cannot get updated maps from within the iGo software (I am in North America if that helps). When I select the option to update, I get the following error: Error loading file: i18n/800_480/naviextrascontent.xhtml

2. The steering wheel controls will randomly stop working or just some of them or sometimes, the buttons do something different than expected. This is installed in a 2005 GMC Yukon w/ BOSE. A couple of examples:

a. the buttons just stop working and maybe 3 minutes later or maybe 20 minutes later or sometimes not at all they will come back

b. some buttons stop working occassionally: the volume up or down no longer nor does the seek up botton however the seek down button still works as does the source buttons.

c. some buttons stop working, others take the function of others: the volume up does not work but the volume down does. the seek up button does not work however the seek down does work but it is functioning like the seek up.

Note: i re-install the Pioneer that I had in there and all of the buttons function correctly and they work all the time

d. other times it will work just fine for the entire time I am in the vehicle, but this is not the norm, one of the above is the norm (maybe it will work fine one out of 40 drives)

3. Since installing this device, sometimes when turning the car off, the heater/AC fans will continue to run. It is not consistent enough to give more testing but that never happened in the last 5 or 6 years with the old unit

4. Sometimes radio stations take 5-6 seconds to get a signal, other times it is immediate. One of my other vehicles will tune the same station immediately and I never experienced that delay with those or with the previous unit.

5. On my wife's ipod touch, it will recognize that the device is attached but will not show that is has any music. It works properly and finds music if connected via Bluetooth but not the IPod interface.

Also, can I replace the 8gb SD card that is in the GPS slot with a larger and use that for music (as well as still function for the GPS)?

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

1. This free maps provided by the facotry does not support to update directly from iGo software or official website, if there is new maps, we can send it to you.

2. This unit is an unviersal model which just support the analog resistance signal, your car has canbus system which is related to the steering wheel control, you should get an adapter to make your SWC work. Please go to the wheel study to reset the buttons and learn them again. If this is still does not help. The adapter with canbus box maybe broken.

3. The heater/AC fans is also controlled by your canbus system, please try to contact the customer service from the adapter supplier and get a new one to solve it.

4. It's normal that sometime the aftermarket unit get a delay signal, which is caused by the radio app software response or the signal receiving.

5. Please check the iPod touch storage space, and sometime it could not show all the music file when there are too many music, sorry about this.

You can replace the 8GB SD card with another larger 16GB/32GB to use.

Regards

Thank you for the information. Sorry, I did not realize it had been replied to otherwise I would have responded sooner.

#1: How can I tell if there are new maps available? There are a couple of streets that I was recently traveling down that the GPS did not know about.

Also on the GPS, I was traveling last week and was trying to get someone to the airport. I could not just put in a point of interest such as "airport". I had to look up the actual address of the airport. The same thing for restaurant, no point of interest/restaurant name, I have to look up the physical address. Please advise.

#2 and #3: ok, I will get with the adapter manufacturer and see if they have a resolution.

#4: ok, not a big deal

#5: No problem on the IPod, it works fine through one of the USB cables so I have told my wife just to make sure she brings the adapter.

Let me know. Thank you.
